Join us for our Smoky Mountain Hiking and Yoga Retreat in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, one of the most biodiverse places on Earth! Upon arrival, you will be filled with wonder as we hike through old growth forests and dip our toes in crisp mountain streams. Deepen your connection with the earth by venturing on guided hikes and gentle outdoor yoga daily. Our evenings will be spent underneath the stars at Camp Atagahi, a 90-acre eco camp outside of Gatlinburg, TN. This glamping experience provides the perfect setting to unwind as you cozy up next to the fire and are lulled to sleep by the sounds of the forest.

Each day on our Smoky Mountain Hiking and Yoga Retreat, we will challenge ourselves physically by hiking over rugged mountain terrain. The opportunity to challenge ourselves mentally comes during quiet moments of contemplation and reflection. The Smokies will be our backdrop as we learn more about nature and ourselves during this three-night outdoor adventure.

Our Smoky Mountain Hiking and Yoga Retreat was created to offer a chance to unplug and reconnect with nature and yourself. While there is time dedicated to physical endeavors such as hiking and yoga, there will also be time for reflection, journaling, and meditation. Both our physical and mental well-being will be rejuvenated after time spent fully immersed in the Smokies. This trip is perfect for anyone who wants to spend time outside with like-minded individuals who are curious about deepening their understanding of themselves and nature.

  • Hiking: The Smokies are home to nearly 900 miles of hiking trail. This means that there are trails accessible to all levels, from tranquil walks along flowing creeks to strenuous treks across jagged clifftops. Our hikes will be somewhere in the middle, they may be challenging to some and easier to others. It is our goal to make all participants feel comfortable and capable during this trip. Our expert hiking guides will ensure our hikes are as fun as they are educational! Hiking guides will spend time along the trail discussing the plants and animals that make the Smokies so unique.
  • Yoga: The word “yoga” means union, and our yoga practice will explore the union between ourselves and the natural world. Practicing yoga outdoors allows the senses to explore new sights and sounds as we move our bodies in a way that realigns our souls. Each day we will have the opportunity to practice yoga after our hike. Our yoga practice will allow us to turn our focus inwards after the external exploration of the hiking trail. Yoga practices will be gentle and suitable for all levels of yogis.
  • Camp Atagahi: Our home base for the weekend. The word “atagahi” is Cherokee for “place of healing waters”. We hope that you find healing and nourishment during your time spent here. This 90-acre property is home to 10 individual tent platforms. Each platform is elevated with stairs leading up to your spacious tent, can accommodate two people and has elevated cots. The tent platforms also have a canopy that covers a deck with lounge chairs so that you can enjoy the creek that flows by the tents. Camp Atagahi is also home to our “camp host”, who will be in charge of preparing meals throughout the retreat in our off grid commercial kitchen. Also on the property is the covered dining deck where we will be sharing our meals. Camp Atagahi is true “glamping” because of the bathhouse which boasts two private showers, toilets, and sinks, all with hot water.

Day 1

After meeting, we will caravan to our first stop inside the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. After introductions and an overview of what the weekend will hold, we will venture out on our first hike. During our time here, we will spread out our yoga mats for a gentle afternoon yoga flow. After our practice, we will take a short drive to Camp Atagahi. Upon arrival, after checking in to your tent, we will have a delicious dinner before settling in and enjoying the campfire.

Day 2

Our morning begins with hot tea or coffee before enjoying a freshly cooked breakfast. Once fueled for the day, we will head out for our 2nd adventure of the trip! We will eat lunch on the trail and keep ourselves limber with yoga on an Appalachian Bald or under the cover of a Smoky Mountain canopy of trees. After, we’ll have time to stop at the GSMNP Visitors Center. Once back at camp, we will enjoy free time before dinner and another evening spent under the stars by the campfire.

Day 3

Another quiet morning begins with tea or coffee and a hearty breakfast. Today we will visit an iconic mountain stream along an old railroad bed. Along the way we will stop to admire a few mountain waterfalls. Those brave enough to swim can take a dip! We will eat lunch on the trail and have time for quiet meditation and gentle yoga before returning to camp for the evening. At camp, we will enjoy free time before dinner and another evening spent under the stars by the campfire.

Day 4

Spend the final morning soaking up the peaceful tranquility of Camp Atagahi. Our morning begins with gentle yoga to prepare us for the journey home before enjoying our final meal together. After breakfast, we will pack up our things and check out before heading to our last Smokies trailhead. On this final hike, we’ll follow another gorgeous mountain stream past remnants of days gone by. An area filled with history and peaceful surroundings completes our trip.
